For a real connoisseur, very few things are as enjoyable as a skillfully prepared dish – the moment each element comes together flawlessly, it’s nearly miraculous. On the other hand, a lousy dish can wreck an otherwise exciting evening, so it’s a good plan to do some checking and take a look around for thoughts and opinions prior to choosing where to eat. As though that fails to make matters complicated enough, there’s much more to take into account about a restaurant than only the menu! The character of a place can easily make a difference in your overall experience, whether it is snotty and unhelpful employees or a yelling young child the second table over. Nevertheless it’s not all unpleasant, naturally – a fantastic atmosphere can make a pretty good dish into an incredible dinner!
We have lived within Boston for many years at this point, and we have gathered a reasonably good repertoire of dining places that we enjoy, which range from tiny mom-and-pop businesses to impressive fine dining, and here are several of our all-time favs (though it was so challenging to pick!). This is what folks on Yelp.com say concerning our favorites:

1. Giacomo’s Ristorante
355 Hanover St
(between Bennet St & Fleet St)
Boston, MA 02113
Neighborhood: North End

WOW! WOW! WOW! If you are in Boston, you MUST eat here!

Be prepared, though. There is always a wait. On a Wednesday night, we waited 45 minutes for a table. But it was well worth it!!!! The gnocchi was superb! The scallops were to die for! And the prices were super reasonable. For example, we got a good bottle of wine for $16.00! Yes, $16.00!!!! Total price for 4 people with a bottle of wine was ~$80.00.

If I could, I would eat here every night.

Be prepared for the wait when trying Giacomo’s and bring cash as they do not accept credit cards.

Enjoy!

2. New Jumbo Seafood Restaurant
(between Harvard St & Kneeland St)
Boston, MA 02111
Neighborhood: Chinatown

One word sums up this place — Delicious!! This is by far my favorite place for a Chinese food fix. My must orders are:
* Lobster stir-fried with Ginger and Scallions
* Flash-steamed Live Shrimp
* Pea Shoots with Garlic
Once you eat here it is hard to go back to “Americanized” take-out…

One of the first seafood restaurants I visited when I moved to Boston and certainly one of the best to date! The menu is diverse and they always have some enticing special that will torpedo whatever craving you had coming in. I have been here several times and my last visit treating out of town guests I ordered the Pan Seared Sea Scallops w/ basil pesto. It was excellent! The other guests thoroughly enjoyed their meals as well.

This is a top ten restaurant in Boston for seafood!

- Krysta R. (Cambridge, MA)

If you need other stuff to do in Boston, go and look at our other posts about our lovely metropolis, and make a day of it! We’re positive you will find something that can help round out your dining experience into part of an unforgettable day!
